CARL LINTERN – CRAMLINGTON

Carl Lintern, 42, has been sentenced to a custodial term following convictions for a number of sexual offences involving children.

Lintern appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on 10 March 2025, where he was sentenced to three years and eight months’ immediate imprisonment. The offences were committed in Barry, South Wales, during 2023.

The court heard that Lintern pleaded guilty to making and possessing indecent images of children and to threatening to disclose private sexual photographs and films. He denied charges of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13 and sexual assault, but was found guilty of those offences following a trial.

Evidence presented to the court detailed how Lintern contacted children while working at a fairground in the Barry area. The prosecution outlined that communication progressed through messaging platforms and involved inappropriate sexual content, coercion and threats. In some cases, threats were made to disclose private images or cause harm in order to exert pressure on the victims.

Victims involved were aged as young as 12 years old. The court was told that the conduct caused significant distress and fear.

As part of sentencing, Lintern was made subject to Sex Offender Notification Requirements and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). A Victim Impact Statement was submitted and considered by the court. The judge noted that there were relevant previous convictions.

Lintern remains in custody, with a likely release or eligibility date in September 2026, subject to licence and statutory requirements.
