Liam Gallagher teases Oasis reunion in New Year message to Noel
Liam Gallagher wasted no time in targeting brother Noel with the tease of an Oasis reunion.
It took the 48-year-old singer less than an hour into the New Year to cryptically suggest 2021 was the year for the pair to reunite.
Liam hasn’t been shy in asking his older brother to get back on stage with him over the years – much to the hope of their fans.
But Noel has so far appeared to ignore Liam’s advances and continues to build his successful career with his High Flying Birds band.
Liam tweeted not long after the clock struck midnight: “HNY Noel love you long time 2021 is our year c’mon you know LG x”
Fans have rushed to comment on the tweet, hoping this year really will be the one.
“I hope it happens this year, Liam. Just a nice drink together would be grand,” one simply requested.
Another said: “That’s beautiful Liam!! Come Together 2021.”
“Make it happen, the world wants it and life’s too short,” encouraged a third.
Things haven’t been plain sailing between the pair since the end of Oasis in 2009.
Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show in November, Liam claimed that Noel turned down the chance of the pair netting a staggering £100m for a set of reunion gigs.
“When someone offers you £100m to do a few gigs and that man, you’re going to go, ‘Alright then yeah…’ there was a lot of money knocking about,” Liam said.
“It was £100m to do a tour and that and I’m thinking, ‘I’m not a d***head, know what I mean? I’ll have a bit of that.’ He’s not into it is he? He’s after a knighthood isn’t he?”
